We’re Getting Married!

Jordan & Iyia

30.05.25

Join us in Bali for our destination wedding!

We understand that travel might pose challenges for some due to personal circumstances. Having visited Bali multiple times ourselves whilst pregnant, with a 2 month old, 6 month old and a toddler, we're here to share our insights and tips.

We've also compiled some helpful information on this website to assist you with your plans.

Accomodation

Our Wedding Ceremony is located at Karma Kandara Resort in the Ungasan area.

We will be staying here for 4 nights (May 29th, 30th, 31st, June 1st) before we head off to central Bali (please see itinerary below).

There are plenty of villa’s on site if you wish to stay here, otherwise I would recommend staying in Jimbaran, Uluwatu or Ungasan areas for these 3 days (please see map below).

Map of Bali

We will be staying in 3 main areas:

  • (Bottom of Island): Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Ungasan

  • (Central): Seminyak, Kuta

  • (Further Up): Canggu

These are the main tourist destinations. I would recommend booking accommodation in Seminyak after our wedding ceremony for the remainder of your trip if you wish to stay central.

Whilst geographically the distance between locations may not seem far, the traffic is very bad (by car, bike is ok).

Example: Can take 1 hour - 1.5 hours to get from Seminyak to Uluwatu, pending traffic.

Wedding FAQ

  • Neutral colours please to keep the photos/video tidy: white, cream, beige, brown, grey, black etc.

Women please wear formal dress or gown

Men please wear a dress shirt / suit.

  • Option 1) Hire a nanny ($6NZD p/hour) to oversee them at your accomodation

Option 2) If you are not staying on site, you are welcome to bring your nanny to our accomodation (Grand Villa at 4pm) in case you want to check on them during the ceremony/reception, or keep in contact via Whatsapp with your nanny for peace of mind.

  • We will enjoy food and drinks at El Kabron from 1pm onwards, one of our favourite beach clubs, located on the cliff - and celebrate by watching the sunset with great company.

Please book for El Kabron in advance as there is limited seating, the pool area is adults only, kids allowed in restaurant although I would recommend to leave them at your accomodation or have your nanny look after baby in the restaurant area (check their website for T&C’s).

  • No - you can stay anywhere on the island that you wish, Uluwatu/Jimbaran/Ungasan areas (bottom of the island) have the best cliff views on the island for incredible sunsets.

We recommend spending a few days here, before heading to central bali (Seminyak/Canggu) where it is busier.

  • We have created an itinerary curated with some of our favourite spots on the island. We would love for you to join us (but you don’t have to), please ensure to book to avoid missing out or arrive early (when the venue opens).

We hope you can make it!

Bali Tips & Information

  • From my understanding if you have a New Zealand passport, you can just do a Visa on Arrival, which costs $50-$100 per person.

    • Do not drink or brush teeth with tap water

    • Drink bottled water ONLY

    • Eat at places with good hygiene levels e.g. not street food

Bali Belly can be caused by consuming food or water with bacteria in it. If you do catch it, it will usually reside within a day or 2. On the many occasions that we have travelled to Bali, this is something that happens rarely.

  • I have been to Bali whilst pregnant with Summer, and been to Bali with my pregnant friend Lauren.

If you eat and drink at reputable resorts, restaurants and beach clubs, only drink bottled water (not tap), ensure that the ice in drinks is filtered water (not tap), and maintain good hygiene standards you will be fine.

If you are having a complicated pregnancy, it would be best to consult with your GP.

  • We travelled to Bali twice in 2023 (Millie was 2 months old, and 6 months old) and Summer was 3.

If you have a baby (2 years or younger) I would recommend hiring a nanny daily ($6NZD) to assist you with:

    • Holding baby so you don’t need to wear a carrier

    • Nap times with baby so you can still drink cocktails

    • Make bottles

    • Bringing around equipment & baby bag

For children 3 and over, you would only really need a nanny to look after the kids at your accomodation if you wanted to do something without the kids e.g. go to dinner when they are sleeping, adults only beach club etc.

    • Flasks that you can put boiled bottled water into, so you can easily make bottles when you are out.

    • Travel pram (folds right up so you can take it on the plane and through the airport, unlike a normal pram which you have to check in due to it’s size)

    • Bottle washing equipment (dish liquid, sanitiser)

    • Book a nanny ($6NZD per hour)

  • Download the Gojek app to your phone. It is their equivalent of Uber & Uber eats. You can easily order a car or motorbike to pick you up from your location and take you to your destination for only a few dollars.

We also used the Gojek app to order bottled water, snacks and food to our accomodation. The delivery fee was only a few dollars each delivery.

Book as early as possible to avoid missing out. Our regular nanny may also be able to refer you to others, please contact me on info@iyialiu.com if you get stuck - I have a few nannies I can recommend.
